This soundbank of all-new sounds for the Roland Fantom XR/6/7/8 synth turns your Fantom XR/6/7/8 into a wind controller powerhouse. These professional quality wind controller sounds come from PATCHMAN MUSIC- the leading authority in breath controlled sound design. This soundbank works superbly with a wind controller such as the Yamaha WX5, WX7, WX11, WindJamm'r, Akai EWI USB, EWI4000s, EVI, EWI4000s, Nyle Steiner MIDI EVI and EWI, MDT, or Softwind Synthophone. Keyboardists can also enjoy these highly expressive sounds when used with a Yamaha BC1, BC2, or BC3 plugged directly into a keyboard equipped with a breath controller input or plugged into a device such as the MIDI Solutions Breath Controller Box or Anatek Wind Machine (out of production). These sounds require a wind controller or breath controller for proper use. These sounds are NOT compatible with the Fantom G Series Synths.

These new sounds for the Fantom XR/6/7/8 are the result of over 4 years of programming by professional wind controller player / sound designer Matt Traum. They have been programmed specifically for the Fantom XR/6/7/8 to take advantage of the new Fantom XR/6/7/8 features- they were not simply converted from our previous XV or JV sounds. Fantom XR/6/7/8 Volume 1 contains a full bank of 128 all-new and amazing Patches and 32 astounding Performances specially designed to be used with (and requires) a MIDI wind controller or breath controller. This soundbank contains an amazing number of acoustic instrument sounds. A wide variety of acoustic sounds are included in many of the instrument families. Volume 1 includes a huge variety of realistic woodwinds, brass, orchestral layers, leads, and killer chorded layers! It features tons of highly expressive instruments plus a full compliment of saxes, trumpets, trombones, orchestral brass layers, harmonicas, solo and ensemble strings, Brecker-style chorded leads, Tower of Power style brass layers, and much more. Synthophone master Erik Klein sent us some wonderful audio tracks he recorded featuring the Patchman Music Fantom XR Volume 1 soundbank (and TURBO VL70-m) being played via his Synthophone. Be sure to visit his website for more info and demos from Erik. Schumann Romance 1 - 1st Movement (3.2 megs) The lead sound is from Patchman Music's Fantom XR Volume 1 Patch "020 *Overtone". Erik expertly shows how expressive a single properly-programmed wind controlled patch can be when played with skill and correct breath control. When all the parts of a wind controller system are in place a wind controller can be THE most expressive instrument you will ever hear. Accompaniment is Patchman Music's Fantom XR Volume 1 Patch "124 *Pno/Strings". Three Views (5.5 megs) On this track, Erik plays three sounds- "ZawiLead" and "Desmond" are from the Patchman Music TURBO VL70-m- another amazing wind controller synth module. The remaining sound is the Patchman Music Fantom XR Volume 1 "096 *Harmonica 1" Patch.

"I've been working with Matt Traum's new patches for the Roland Fantom XR synth for the past two weeks and must say they are all very good if not amazing! Matt said he focused on patches that emulate 'real' instruments in his comments about this new set of patches and I have to say he was totally successful! All the woodwind (flutes, oboes, english horn, bassoon, clarinets, and saxes) patches are outstanding. Felt like I had become Eddie Daniels in a 3+ hour practice session yesterday (lost track of time the patches were so great!). This was a great investment for me... as I use my EWI/WX5 controllers for my solo work, where I've found my audience is much more engaged with me playing multiple 'instruments' on my gigs.. (flugelhorn, trumpet, clarinet, bone, etc..) along with my alto & tenor saxes. Matt's work on this new set added some greatly improved patches, when compared to my Roland XV-5050 patches (I will continue to use the 5050.. but the Fantom XR patches will become primary voices in most cases). Bottom-line... I highly recommend Matt's patches for the Roland Fantom XR!!"

"Well... first performance with the new Roland Fantom XR and Matt's patches.... done. Man, what a great experience!!!! I ended up using only 4 patches for the 2-hour gig... about 75% using the 'Clarinet1' patch... 15% the 'Harmonica1' patch... and the other 10% using the '<<PAT>>' and 'Mangione' patches on my VL70-m w/Turbo chip. Bluesette played with your Harmonica patch is an absolute KILLER patch. And the Clarinet (aka Eddie Daniels) patch is THE MOST RESPONSIVE patch I've ever played! When I play with that patch... I can't help but play well! Man... this is some great work you did!!! Thanks...sure is adding to my performance quality!"
