"I just received the Volume 1 disk. Thank you. The patches
sound great."
"Enjoying the sounds so much I forgot to acknowledge
receiving them. All the banks are very well done. Thanks for
all of your help and patience. You've earned HIGH marks for customer
support!"
"The patches are very musical and better quality most
of the time than the Roland originals."
"I love all the sound banks I've received from you over
the years. I'd pay you in advance for a FS1R or Proteus 2000
bank. For the quality of work you put into those sounds your
prices are way too cheap. I play professionally, and your sounds
have truly helped me to sound good enough to get called back.
Thanks again."
"Thanks. The patches are great!!"
"I bought the Volume 1 patches. I found
the Rhodes, Piano/Strings, concertina, clavinet, harpsichord,
vibes, and marimba were very well done. St Violins is a quality
patch that I use quite a bit and stereo cellos, full strings
and marcato strings and orchestra are also very good. Pizzicato
violins are unique and better than on my Orchestral board. The
patches #64-120's are a nice assortment of pads. #128 is THX--a
very good patch of sound heard at the beginning of many movie
theaters, that starts low and broad and sweeps upward slowly
into a fifth. The greatest benefit of the Patchman bank to me
was the organization of my patches and performances in a logical
order. I downloaded the entire bank into my user memory and have
used it as a template for my synth. In general the patch sounds
were improved in comparison to similar ones in the A-C banks.
The controllers are set to allow you to adjust the tone up or
down from the sometimes brassy sound of the normal bank patches.
It was well worth it."

EWI Virtuoso Ed Calle comments...
"Your stuff is great. I am just starting to get the EWI
back in shape for the new tour and will be using your sounds
extensively. All the best."

Composer Kurt Heinecke comments...
"I've got Matt's patches for the Yamaha VL70-m, Alesis
S4+ and NanoSynth, and the Roland JV-1010. His patches really
bring each module to life. Even cheaper and older modules like
the S4+ and NanoSynth gain a second life. As an example, I've
used Matt's cello patch from the S4+ in a string quartet and
fooled one of the quartet members as she was entering practice-
she heard the cello but didn't see me, and was wondering what
cello player they had found! Matt goes the extra mile and takes
the time to layer voice elements like breath noise, key clicks,
and other subtle sounds into appropriate patches. Thanks for
creating the S4+ bank- it gave me reason to track down and buy
this older (but still powerful) module! I've used Matt's acoustic
emulations in live settings with great success. His acoustic
emulations have also worked well in my writing for VeggieTales
and I often use his VL70-m flute and NanoSynth clarinet in orchestral
settings."
- Kurt Heinecke, composer/musician VeggieTales |
"I like the realism of the woodwind ensembles. The flutes
were more responsive than I'VE ever been able to get. In fact,
I think I like them better than my VL flutes. The Lyle Mays patches
really jumped out at me. He's actually one of my inspirations
when I sound design. The analog sounds are great. Megasaurus
is my immediate favorite. Finally, the strings are very special.
And they sound great as pads using the Synthophone chords. My
only regret is that now I'll have to dump all my patches and
re-work my entire rig around your stuff. ;-)> Once again,
thanks for your immense time, effort and sweat put into these
sounds."
"I'm a wind player and was totally frustrated with the
results I was getting from my keyboard. After I got the WX5,
I was less frustrated, but not totally satisfied. Well, I got
the JV-1080 patches for wind controller a couple days ago. What
a difference!! The response feels natural. The sounds are all
a tremendous improvement over my own 'tweaks' to the stock patches.
I especially love the chorded leads and strings. I couldn't find
one patch that I would consider 'filler'. You saved me HOURS
and HOURS of programming time, and I still wouldn't be getting
the results I'm getting now if I had tried to do it myself. Thanks
so much. Great job!"
"Having a great time. I always thought the JV-1080 had
more to offer, but never imagined it could be like this. Looking
forward to getting to know the wind sounds better. Many, many
thanks."
"I love it and thought I'd let you know. I've had a WX11
for almost two years now. It was more of a 'cool toy' than a
workable instrument. With the JV-1080 Volume 2 soundbank I got
last week, it was transformed into one of the most expressive
instruments I have. Beautiful harmonica patches, excellent brass,
and some of the widest synth leads I've ever come across. If
this is the way all your patch sets are, I'm going to end up
broke pretty soon :) Thanks again."
"I'm very happy with the new JV2080 sounds. I've had
a lot of fun with many of the wind controller patches and have
received many compliments on the harmonicas and muted trumpets
in particular. Originally, I had planned on mostly using non-emulative
patches with my WX5, but I've got to admit that it's a lot of
fun playing some of the emulative ones. Thanks."
"Hi Matt, just a quick note to say thank you for the Roland Patches. What a realistic set of sounds. The sounds are so delightful, that I cannot put the WX11 down. Which is not such a bad thing as the weather is so awful it does not inspire me to go out. I never thought it possible for the JV1010 to be modern enough respond so dynamically to the patches you created. Great work! Best wishes"
"Hello Matt. I've just received my JV1080 Soundbank Vol 2 and it's brilliant. I was dreading the technical bit, having to load the patches into my synth, but I followed your instructions, using MidiOx and the Midisport Uno, and it was really easy. Many thanks for the excellent service. Best regards."
"I bought a Roland JV2080 just to use with Matt's Vol 2 soundbank. The Vol 2 sounds are fantastic and Matt continues to work wonders for the wind controller community. This my third set of sounds that I have purchased over the years. Keep up the good work, Matt."
"The 'air' in my spare tire is Patchman Music's JV-1080
Volume 2 Wind Controller Soundbank. Or should I say 'wind' in
my spare tire? Thanks."
"Thanks a lot Matt, I've installed Volume 2 and it's
amazing to play those patches with my WX5 (it was a wonderful
weekend). Ciao."
"Hi Matt, I got the JV 2080 sound bank loaded today and
actually had some time to listen to both the performances and
the patches using my EWI4000. They sound fantastic. I am really
pleased. The trumpets alone are worth the cost of the soundbank.
The best I have experienced. Thank you so much. Excellent work.
Thanks again."
"I ordered [Patchman's] Roland wind controller patches
and have just installed them, playing them with my old EWI3000
rig. Frankly, they sound better than my EWI3030m and I don't
care if Akai waits until Christmas to ship it back from repair!
Terrific stuff. Thanks again, Matt."
"The soprano patch- Patch #17. I love this patch
and have long stretches where I use it way more than any other.
Between it being a soprano (popular sound) and it allowing for
a wide range of expressiveness it has always received immediate
attention from my bandmates, etc."
"The Patchman user programs on my Roland JV-1080 respond
beautifully to breath control."
"I'm thoroughly enjoying my new JV-1080 sounds. I've
been reborn. =) Thanx again."
"By the way, I just need to say again that the Patchman
patches are killing. I thought the WX11 and JV-1080 were pretty
much useless until I received the patches."
"The banks loaded perfectly into my JV-1080. I also had
a little time to test them out and I must say, and you can quote
me on this, 'you're good! real good!!' You've brought my JV-1080
to life. I never knew this level of control existed on this box."
"Thx 4 the sounds Bro! I got both [banks] today. First
off, WOW !!!!! I have only put in the JV bank so far and was
up until 5 am last night playing them (6 hours straight), your
sounds not only respond soooo well but consist of some really
innovative creations. This is just what I needed to get back
into practicing this instrument, Thank you."
