YAMAHA
VL7 Soundbanks
The Yamaha VL7 is compatible with Voices designed for
the Yamaha VL1 and VL1-m. PATCHMAN MUSIC currently offers two
soundbanks for the VL1 and VL1-m.
VL1 and VL1-m Voices that use Single mode will load perfectly
into the VL7 with no additional tweaking. Of course, the VL7
is monophonic and the VL1 and VL1-m are duophonic. This means
that if you want to use the VL1 and VL1-m Dual mode Voices, you
will need to choose one of the two elements to load. The VL7
has the ability to load one of the elements (your choice) from
a Dual mode Voice when loading VL1 and VL1-m Voices from disk.
Detailed information is available in the VL7 owners manual.
Most PATCHMAN MUSIC VL1 and VL1-m Dual mode Voices are layered
sounds and only a few of these are split sounds. Layered sounds
will sound great with only the single element. Split Voices may
need to be tweaked to make the Voice respond throughout the full
note range. We can provide phone assistance if you need help
tweaking the split Voice.
About half of our VL1 and VL1-m Voices are in Dual mode and
the other half are in Single mode.
VL7 owners should refer to the PATCHMAN
MUSIC VL1 and VL1-m Soundbanks page for complete details
on these soundbanks.

* Macintosh Users...
If you are using a Mac and your VL1/m has the Version 2 upgrade
you might be interested in downloading the Yamaha
VL1 Expert Editor for Mac. It allows you to view, audition,
and edit VL1/m Voices. You can also use the Yamaha
VL1 Visual Editor for Mac. They will work directly via the
Modem port without the need for MIDI Manager. If you wish to
use the Printer port you will need to use Apple
MIDI Manager.
* PC Users...
For PC and compatibles, at one point there was a VL1 Expert
Editor available for free but we no longer know where it can
be found. If you find a link to it let us know!
