Muted brass sounds were nice and the Patchman flutes were major improvements - especially nice was the SLEDGEFLUTE patch I played - and I was pleased to find ... improved violin, string and cello sounds. The flute patches give away, somewhat, Patchman's considerable expertise, skill and experience with a vast body of classic analog synths - the synth sounds are terrific! If you are using a Mac and your VL1/m has the Version 2 upgrade you might be interested in downloading the Yamaha VL1 Expert Editor for Mac. It allows you to view, audition, and edit VL1/m Voices. You can also use the Yamaha VL1 Visual Editor for Mac. They will work directly via the Modem port without the need for MIDI Manager. If you wish to use the Printer port you will need to use Apple MIDI Manager.
* PC Users...
For PC and compatibles, at one point there was a VL1 Expert Editor available for free but we no longer know it can be found. If you find a link to it let us know!
