Yamaha WX5 MIDI Wind Controller w/Soft Pouch - JUST ADDED!

Here is a Yamaha WX5 wind controller with Yamaha WX soft pouch. The WX5 is the current model Yamaha wind controller. It is great because it features tons of MIDI control features, a MIDI OUT right on the body of the WX5 (making MIDI wireless a possibility with our optional Midi Jet Pro USB wireless Midi system), and it can be powered any of three ways; via Yamaha PA130 AC adaptor (not included- but available for $20 extra), via a Yamaha BT7/WT11/MFC10 (not included), or via 6 AAA batteries (not included) installed inside the body of the instrument. This WX5 has been tested and fully calibrated to play properly right out of the box by wind controller expert Matt Traum in the Patchman Music wind controller lab.

This WX5 is in very good condition and is fully functional and calibrated by Patchman Music. It plays great and everything works as it should. The mouthpiece has some bite indentations on top but it still has lots of life left in it. (If you want a brand new mouthpiece and/or reed installed we can do that for you at extra cost). This VL70-m unit is in VERY GOOD CONDITION. The only flaw we see is a small 1/2" crack in the LCD lens. It does not affect the performace in any way and the LCD is completely viewable. Roland JV-1010 Synth Module w/Patchman Music Soundbank! - JUST ADDED!

A great low cost wind controller sound module. This is a Roland JV-1010 1/2 rack sized MIDI synth module. It is only 1/2 rack in size so itis great for gigging. This unit makes a great wind controller synth when loaded with the Patchman Music Volume 2 wind controller soundbank which is included with this sale! It responds very quickly to the wind controller. This Roland JV-1010 is in EXCELLENT CONDITIONwith only a small amount of dings and scuffs from normal use. It still has the protective plastic film from the factory on the LED window! Alesis NanoSynth w/Patchman Music Wind Controller Soundbank - JUST ADDED!

Here is a great small module for your wind controller. The Alesis NanoSynth works superbly as a wind controller module with the proper patches loaded. It is very fast to respond to a wind controller's MIDI data and it has a very nice legato capability. The Alesis NanoSynth is capable of responding to breath controller data if programmed to do so and this unit includes the Patchman Music Volume 1 Wind Controller Soundbank pre-installed (a $70 value)! The NanoSynth unit is incredibly small, only 1/3 of a rack space(!), yet it packs a huge sonic punch. It has 64 note polyphony, tons of preset sounds (lots more are available at the Alesis website), is General MIDI (GM) compatible, MIDI IN, OUT/THRU jacks plus a PC/MAC serial port, RCA stereo INs and OUTs, and it has room for 127 user sounds. The front panel has knobs for Volume, Effects Level (nice!), MIDI Channel, Category, and Program, and power and MIDI activity LEDs.

Alesis S4+ (S4 Plus) Synth Module w/Patchman Music Wind Controller Soundbank

This is the later model S4 Plus model with the super smooth legato making it an EXCELLENT wind controller module! The Alesis S4+ is a one rack space synth module featuring tons of great sounds and built in Alesis Quadraverb effects. The S4+ makes a superb, super-responsive wind controller sound module featuring an ultra-smooth legato- the best in the business. Listen to this MP3 of it being used with a wind controller with the Patchman Music S4+ soundbank loaded! It is fully programmable and also expandable using Alesis Quadra Cards. The S4+ uses ROM based, sample playback type synthesis with 64 voices of polyphony. It responds very quickly to all 16 MIDI channels. It has FOUR banks each containing 128 Preset Programs plus it has a fifth bank that holds 128 User Programs. The 4th Preset bank is the General MIDI (GM) bank- so this unit is GM compatible. This unit is in VERY GOOD condition. It has some scratches from rack mounting and normal use and one or two of the numerous LCD backlights are not on so there are slightly darker spots in that area which do not affect operation in any way. This complete Akai EWI3020 and EWI3030m wind controller system is ready to play right out of the box! All you need is an amp to plug it into (or a pair of headphones) and a 1/4" cable. This system uses control voltage internally for super fast response to your playing gestures. It includes an EWI3020 controller, the EWI3030m rack mount PCM module, an EWI connecting cable, and the wonderful Patchman Music EWI3030m Volume 1 soundbank (an $80 value) pre-installed. Very Hard To Find! - Yamaha BT7 Wind Controller Battery Pack / MIDI Adaptor - PRICE REDUCED!!!

This Yamaha BT7 belt pack adds several useful features to the Yamaha WX7, WX11 and WX5. First, it provides power to the WX7/11/5 either by way of 6 internal AA batteries or an optional AC adaptor. Second, it provides a MIDI OUT connector so you can use the WX7/11/5 to control any MIDI synth via MIDI. Without the BT7 you would need to plug the WX7/11/5 into a device featuring a WX input jack such as the WT11, VL70-m, or MFC10. The Yamaha BT7 also will allow WX7 and WX11 owners the ability to GO WIRELESS by adding the Midi Jet Pro wireless MIDI system! Very Hard To Find! - Yamaha BC1 Breath Controller

The Yamaha BC1 is the original breath controller. It originally was released around 1980 designed as an accessory for the Yamaha CS01 analog synth. This is the model that is silver and works like a mouthpiece. It has a 1/8" mini jack at end of cord that plugs into any synth or device with a BC input such as the Yamaha VL1, VL1-m, VL7, VL70-m, SY99, K2500, K2600, etc. or into a device such as the MIDI Solutions Breath Controller Box available from Patchman Music or the (out of production) Anatek Wind Machine. It has a small electronic trimmer adjustment pot accessible from a small hole in bottom the mouthpiece to adjust the breath threshold point.

This BC1 has been checked out, cleaned, adjusted, and it works great. It has a moderate amount of teeth marks and scratches on the unit but it works as intended (with properly programmed patches loaded in your synth). EXTREMELY RARE!! Steiner / Crumar EVI Calibrated by EVI Guru Matt Traum - JUST ADDED!

Attention BRASS players! Here is a very rare Crumar EVI brass-style analog wind controller designed by the great Nyle Steiner, marketed in the early 1980's by the Italian company Crumar, and recently restored and refurbished, calibrated, and tweaked by EVI Guru and player Matt Traum at Patchman Music. This vintage EVI is over 33 years old and comes from the personal collection of EVI player Matt Traum who still plays this model because of the wonderful silky-smooth fat analog sound it produces.

This Crumar EVI is strictly analog- there are no MIDI capabilities on this unit. Since it is TRUE ANALOG, it has an incredibly smooth and responsive sound. You can actually hum while playing and the breath sensor is so fast that it will modulate the sound coming from the synth! The Crumar EVI has an incredibly expressive and beautiful sound. You can listen to numerous mp3 clips of the Crumar EVI in action here. The Crumar EVI has a 6+ octave range and even more range is available by changing the TUNE knob. ULTRA RARE!! Early Model Steiner EVI Made & Modded by Nyle Steiner! - PRICE REDUCED!!!

This super-rare early model Electronic Valve Instrument (EVI) was hand built and customized by the inventor of the EVI and EWI Nyle Steiner himself. It was made in the late 1970's. This model is a pre-Crumar EVI with discrete electronics for the oscillator and filter- no CEM or SEM chips- just real transistors and OP amps! True Steiner synth circuitry in this. This completely analog and fully functioning EVI is perfect for the serious wind controller player, Steiner synth collector, and synth history buff. It would also certainly be welcomed in any electronic musical instrument museum.

This 100% analog EVI is in fully working condition and has been completely gone over by EVI player and wind controller repair expert Matt Traum here at Patchman Music. It is in perfect playable condition. It has a moderate amount of physical wear from use over the years but it is working fully and has been reconditioned and calibrated here at Patchman Music by Matt Traum. This Steiner EVI is one of the early models hand made by Nyle Steiner. It features a proportional breath transducer so it responds to the player's breath pressure smoothly. Steiner developed some very clever designs in this instrument including a proportional capacitative breath pressure sensor and a piezo-based vibrato sensor. At the time these were very advanced wind synthesis innovations. This 100% analog horn is very sensitive to your breath and vibrato for very expressive playing. Amazing stuff from an amazing musical pioneer. This particular horn has been modded by Nyle Steiner to include an LFO speed pot which kicks in when the DBL switch is on. This allows you to adjust the speed of the chorusing effect allowing its single analog oscillator to sound fat like multiple oscillators. It is a great idea and is very musically useful.

This Steiner EVI is actually a 100% self-contained system with built-in synth, amp, and practice speaker! This is very rarely seen in the wind controller world. It has a built-in one oscillator analog synth that features the famous and highly sought after Steiner analog filter built into the case! It responds superbly to your breath. There is even a small built-in speaker in the case with amplifier for quiet practice sessions at home (it's not very loud). There is also a 1/4" audio output jack for connecting to an amp and adding effects etc. There is no MIDI on this unit.

Please note that this system is really intended to be sold to a serious player, collector, or someone who is knowledgeable about analog synthesis. As it is a 100% analog synth and quite esoteric, it may require tender loving care from time to time and it is subject to all the idiosyncrasies that go along with vintage analog gear. This is a vintage piece of gear so there are no returns on these items and we cannot make any warranties on these items. It has been completely gone over in the Patchman Music shop and is working great!

RARE!! TOA D3 Rack Mount Mixer - THE BEST wind controller gig rig mixer!

This is the model mixer I personally use in my wind controller gig rig at Patchman Music. After a long search at every rack mount mixer ever made, I concluded that this is the best possible mixer for my situation. Click here for some info on Matt Traum's wind controller gig rig which is based around this TOA mixer. The TOA D-3 mixer is in the bottom position in this rack. The TOA D3 mixer is the only mixer I could find anywhere that had the exact features I needed for my particular wind controller rig. It is a single space rack mount mixer featuring a main stereo out with separate volume knobs for Left and Right. Then, most importantly, it has a totally se per ate 1/4" MONO Sum Output which is used to feed my powered monitor. There is a separate volume knob for the SUM OUT (a mono output) which DOES NOT affect the level going to the Main Outputs. Having a separate volume knob to control this monitor output allows me to have complete and independent control over my own monitor which I found to be ultra important when gigging. This mixer also has a 1/4" stereo headphone jack on the front also with a separate volume knob for it. It has 4 STEREO inputs (2 inputs on each) with volume, pan, high and low eq, and effects send on each. Each of the 4 main ins also has a DIRECT OUTPUT phono jack and a phono Input jack as well. Input number 4 also accepts a phantom powered mic complete with 15v switchable phantom power and XLR jack! I use the Mic input for my vocal/trumpet mic. It has stereo effects returns and stereo tape returns (again both with knobs), LED clip indicators on each input plus overall clip LED, and an AC cord (no wall wart!). These are really excellent sounding mixers. They are clean and the EQ sounds great. They seem to be designed exactly for this type of application.

This unit is in EXCELLENT CONDITION with just the normal signs of use (scratches, scuffs, marks) but everything has been checked here at Patchman Music and it works great! (The extra time and work we put into this mixer to check it out and refurbish it in our shop before we sell it is worth at least $100.) This sale includes the TOA D3 rackmount mixer, a printed copy of the Instruction Manual, and a printed copy of the product promo brochure. RARE!! Yamaha MFC2 Wind Controller Footpedal

Here is your chance to grab one of these very rare and unique wind controller footpedal MIDI processors reburished by Matt Traum at Patchman Music! The Yamaha MFC2 is a unique and special foot controller specifically designed for wind controller players. Yes, there are other MIDI Footpedals on the market, but this is the only one ever made with the unique wind controller sustain mode! This allows you to SUSTAIN A BREATH CONTROLLED NOTE!! Note that is more complicated than a simple sustain pedal since the breath level has to be sustained as well and this feature is unique to the MFC2. No other footpedal can do this. Patchman Music has also professionally installed an internal backup battery clip and a fresh back up battery! (a $125+ service job!) The MFC2 can also send any of 30 different Programs Changes per Preset group- and there are 8 Preset groups. In addition, each program number has 6 different parameters which can be programmed to add new functions to the wind controller. It is possible to control two different MIDI channels - and thus two different voices (if your sound module does this) - simultaneously but in slightly different ways.A key hold footswitch can be used, for example, to sustain a breath controlled note on one channel, while breath and lip data from the wind controller have varying effects on each channel. The MFC2 allows a wind controller player to play a note on one MIDI channel (and this note might be a layered/chorded patch), then jam over that sustained note on a second MIDI channel (if your synth is polyphonic). Roland SB-55 Sound Brush - JUST ADDED!

The Roland SB-55 Sound Brush is a Midifile player. This very useful utility device has dual purpose... It is mainly designed to play back Standard Midifiles (PC DOS 720k DSDD floppy format) but it can also function as a bulk sysex storage device for synths. To play back Midifiles, you nned to connect it to a Midi synth- there is no synth built into the Sound Brush. It has been tested to work beautifully with the Yamaha VL70-m for loading the Patchman Music Custom VL70-m Voices into it. If you are a wind controller player using a VL70-m, this is the most portable way to load VL70-m Custom Patches. It is only 1/2 rack space! The Sound Brush has 2 MIDI INs (front and back - with merging), MIDI OUT and THRU, a 1/4" footswitch jack for controlling the unit with your foot, plus tons of controls up front for controlling tempo, song selection, fast forward, rewind, etc... There is also a 3 digit LED display to indicate the song number and other functions. It even originally came with a Wireless Remote Control (not included) which allowed you to control the functions from a distance.

This trumpet gig bag is a basic soft carrying bag for a trumpet. It appears to be made out of cordura nylon. It's in pretty good shape. It features a pocket on the side with a zipper to hold some small accessories (mouthpieces, pencils, etc...). It is black and has a handle and hooks for a shoulder strap (not shown but it IS included). The padding is not terribly thick (this is not a hard shell type case) but it is very lightweight and will be perfect for carrying around your horn on short trips between rehearsals.

RARE!! Roland EM-101 Sound Plus MIDI Sound Module

Here is a SUPER RARE Roland EM-101 Sound Plus MIDI Sound Module. This an early vintage MIDI sound module from approximately 1985-1986.

The Roland EM-101 is an interesting module with some classic sweet sounding analog type sounds built-in. Apparently it's like a Roland Juno-106 with only 1 VCF across all the notes. With its analog filter, it has a very warm and pleasing sound.

The front panel has switches for Ensemble/Solo which selects a sound from either the top row or bottom row. The top row sounds are 8 note polyphonic, the bottom row sounds are monophonic with top note priority. The top row (polyphonic) sounds are: Strings 1, Strings 2, Organ 1, Organ 2, Organ 3, Brass 1, Brass 2, and Synth. The bottom row (monophonic) sounds are: Bass 1, Bass 2, Cello, Clarinet, Flute, Violin, Synth 1, and Synth 2. There is also a Brilliance switch which allows you to adjust the brilliance/brightness of the bottom row/monophonic sounds only (hold down the Brilliance switch and use the patch select buttons to set the brilliance level). There is also a front panel power switch and sliders for Volume, Dynamics (adjusts the response to MIDI velocity including optional reversed response!), and Attack (the attack time of the sound). The rear panel has MIDI IN, MIDI THRU, a Fine Tune knob, a 1/4" Remote jack, a switch for High/Low output level, Stereo 1/4" output jacks, and a 1/4" Mix In jack. Everything on this module has been checked out by Matt Traum here at Patchman Music and works well. The unit looks great and plays in tune- amazing for analog synth from 1985!
